SUSTAINABILITY

From the way we power Plakkit HQ and the consumables we use to the way we manage our sites; we’re committed to minimising our environmental impact.

Our sustainability practices include:

  • Partnering with 15 Trees to offset our carbon footprint – in 2023, we purchased 1600 trees to be planted across Westgate Park, Mornington Peninsula, and the Brisbane Ranges.

  • Generating 80% of Plakkit HQ’s electricity via solar panels since 2018.

  • Printing all posters using Forest Stewardship Council certified paper stock and soy-based ink.

  • Offering 100% recycled stock on request.

  • Using environmentally-friendly glue to paste up posters – our glue is made from vegetable starch and doesn’t emit fumes and is non-toxic.

  • Recycling all poster waste through Visy Recycling since 2008.

  • Recycling toner cartridges through Close the Loop – to date, we’ve recycled over 27,900 cartridges which equates to 5592.32kg.

  • Campaigning for regulated bill poster sites to create accountability for site maintenance – this is important for keeping rubbish off the streets and out of waterways.

We’re continuously reviewing and improving our practices in an effort to become as sustainable as possible. It’s important to us, and we know it’s important to our clients and our community.

COMMUNITY

We’ve been ‘sticking up for’ arts, culture, music, events, community, and small businesses – literally and figuratively – for over 20 years.

Among our proudest achievements is having successfully campaigned for local government-approved bill postering sites and creating a legal, affordable, and accessible means of advertising. This has created an effective channel for individuals, groups, businesses, organisations, and movements who can’t afford traditional advertising to reach – and grow – their audiences.

Something else we’re extremely proud of is our very own Plakkit community. Being a great place to work, taking care of our people, and creating sustainable employment opportunities is important to us. And, if our employee retention rate is anything to go by, we’re doing a pretty good job of it.

Championing culture, creativity, and community remains – and always will remain – at the heart of what we do.

This partnership with Fifteen Trees is particularly important to us as we place sustainability front and centre of our agenda. It reflects our strong commitment to a greener future, aligning our business with both environmental and social responsibility”
